Bringing the Past into the Future

Get inspiration for living more sustainably today by exploring the circular way of life of the past.

Most Funen residents in the 18th century lived in villages like The Funen Village. Their lives followed a circular rhythm, guided by the hours of the day and the seasons of the year.

Daily life focused on securing food, clothing, and essential tools – that is, self-sufficiency. Life was frugal, with much lower consumption than today. This way of living was therefore more sustainable and left a significantly smaller environmental footprint than our modern lifestyles.

This walking tour highlights examples of how past ways of life can inspire us to live more climate-friendly today, through both small and large everyday actions.

  • Target Audience: Adults and upper secondary students (8th–9th grade and gymnasium)
  • Duration: 75 min
  • Price:
    • Schools and educational institutions: 750 DKK
