Root Vegetable Festival

Dive deep underground and discover the flavoursome, resilient and utterly indispensable root vegetables as The Funen Village invites you to the Root Vegetable Festival during the autumn holiday in Denmark (10.–18. October).

Here we celebrate the humble heroes of the vegetable patch, which have been part of our diet and culture for centuries – from the farmer’s kitchen garden in the 1800s to the sustainable meals of the future.

Join us in digging up your own potatoes in the field or carving a spooky yet cosy turnip lantern to light up the autumn darkness.

As is tradition, one of the Village’s pigs will be slaughtered on Tuesday. The butcher and the Village’s farmers will explain what is happening along the way.

Explore the Village’s beautiful surroundings, dressed in the warm colours of autumn; get your hands dirty and be inspired by how root vegetables can make their way onto your own kitchen table at home.

During the autumn holiday, we celebrate togetherness at The Funen Village – come and join us, and let the warmth and tranquillity take root with us.
