The Funen Village has an amphitheatre that is used throughout the season for concerts and theatre performances. Before the event begins, you can enjoy an afternoon in the Village (admission ticket required), where you can gain an exciting and inspiring glimpse into the past and learn how we can use the past in the future.
Guests attending events at the amphitheatre should use the gate at Sortebro Kro’s parking lot, located to the right of the main entrance to the Village.
The activities are organised by external partners.
Accessibility
The Funen Village has stable gravel paths with firm surfaces, making it accessible for wheelchair users. Please note that cobblestone surfaces on some courtyards may be uneven. Many houses have narrow doorways and high thresholds, which may prevent wheelchair access.
On-duty helpers with Disability Companion Card have free entry.
Wheelchairs are available for loan at the Visitor Centre, but cannot be reserved in advance, so availability is on a first-come, first-served basis. Accessible parking is located near the Visitor Centre.
Visiting with Children
Children are wonderful museum visitors.
Tips for Visiting with Children
Children can help us discover things, places, and connections we might never have found ourselves. It can be a special experience for both adults and kids if the child’s curiosity is sometimes allowed to take the lead.
Perhaps you can invent a game — like finding your favorite object or the cutest animal. Let your imagination guide you!
The Funen Village is a large open-air museum with many houses, exhibitions, animals, gardens, and fields. Even though you are at a museum, there are plenty of paths to run along, places to play, and sometimes food is prepared in the houses that you can taste.
Bzzzzzzzzz. The Funen Village’s little Funen bee helps you find the spots where you can play, climb, and explore, as well as areas where you can examine authentic objects that tell our history. You can pick up the “Little Bee” brochure at the shop when you visit.
Museum Shop
Sustainability Rooted in Funen Tradition.
The museum shop at The Funen Village celebrates the simple life, where sustainability and mindfulness are a natural part of everyday living. Here, the wisdom of the past meets today’s green ambitions, offering products that tell stories while taking responsibility.
The shop offers a carefully selected range focused on:
- Local producers from Funen
- Reuse and upcycling
- Natural materials such as wool, clay, and beeswax
- Books on circular living, self-sufficiency, and traditional inspiring techniques.
- Meaningful gifts—from hand-turned wooden bowls to locally produced honey
